5. Research and Explain technology addiction. What are some of the problems it causes? How does it affect us physically? Behaviorally? While driving? What can we do to prevent, or treat it?

 

Technology addiction is the matter of being obsessed with any technological device despite the negative consequences that may come along with it. There are a lot of things that go into the actual topic of technology addiction, there’s so much too it, it can get to a point where these devices completely take over your life where you find yourself not being able to live your day-to-day life without having a device stuck to your hand so much so that there’s hotlines that offer help. As generations pass the more technology addiction becomes an issue to younger children, many think that this is why mental health is on the rise as well. Technology addiction comes with many more problems like an increase in anxiety and depression, it also undermines cognitive functioning and decreases learning. Some physical effects of technology addiction are spinal problems because of the fact of tilting your head to look at your screen, skin blemishes because of germs that are piled up on the devices and later spread throughout everything you touch including your face, eyestrain from looking at the bright screen for too long which is why they now have blue light glasses, headaches because of the bright lighting, carpal tunnel, insomnia, weight loss or gain, and so on. Some behavioral issues that technology addiction causes are dishonestly, social isolation, aggression, mood swings, and so on. We all know that technology addiction is a serious issue but having a technology issue while driving takes it to a different level, trying to multitask while driving is never a good idea which is why we always see things like “no texting while driving.” Even the slightest bit of distraction could cause accidents for many reasons that could lead to death so overall what we can do to prevent things like these from happening is get help. According to a couple of the articles that I have listed below some things that we can do to prevent technology addiction is showing our kids from a young age a healthy balance as for treatments, there are many ways to get help like going in to see a therapist, removing internet access along with devices, find other ways of entertainment and so on.
